This week we have been experimenting with different mosaic designs. We are getting ready to make our own, just like the Romans. Watch this space...

We have been learning about The five pillars of Islam. As part of this topic we designed prayer mats and created pictures of them using inks and markers. Don’t they look bold and beautiful!

As part of exciting writing week, the whole school read the book “Return.” Year 5 created fantasy collaborative art work, glass lanterns and amazing fantasy stories

Our topic this term (summer) is Volcanoes 🌋 and The Romans.

Here are some of our diary entries as a child in Pompeii on the day Versuvius erupted.

Before writing a diary recount of a day in Pompeii, we acted out scenes of events leading up to and during the eruption of Mount Versuvius.

We learned about how the earth is made and created models in the forest area and in the hall of the Earth's core, mantle and crust.

As part of our topic we have created oil pastel pictures of the earth and paintings of volcanoes. We have also written non-chronological reports about how volcanoes erupt. Look through the slideshow to see some great examples of our work.

Last term we learned all about the Civil War. We visited the Civil War Centre, walked the Civil War trail and completed lots of fantastic writing, geography and art linked to this topic. The Civil War Centre was so impressed with us that they asked us to display our work there! Please visit during the May half term holidays to see our fantastic display.

In Science we have been learning about characteristics of materials.

Here we are investigating which material will keep the ice poles from melting.

In Computing lessons we have been looking at online safety. We then created posters and comic strips to promote online safety.
