Examples of Alien Nonsense words to practise in preparation for the Phonic Screening Test

This is our new reading arch in Year 1 funded by the PTA. This has given the children a cosy area to sit down and enjoy a book.

'I like sharing books with my friends.' Jasmine

'I like sitting in the reading corner quietly to read books.'

In English we are learning the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'.  We have learnt actions to the story to help us remember the events of the story and what characters the Gingerbread Man meets.

In Maths, we are learning how to add and subtract numbers using number lines and tens frames.

Thank you to all the parents who supported us with the  Year 1 Castle Building workshop. The children had a wonderful time.

Autumn Term

What makes a hero?

This term we will be looking at different heroes including Robin Hood and much more.

Spring Term

During this term the topic is The Great Fire of London. We have have been learning about how the fire started and what evidence there is to find clues as to what happened a long time ago.  We have been looking at how houses have changed over the years. To introduce our topic we had a visit from the Fire Service . They talked about fire safety and showed us the equipment they use.
