Literacy: The Gingerbread Man
An important part of making a story map is learning how to use it make up a story of our own. In F2 we learn several stories really well, create story maps of them and then use them as the basis for a story of our own. We call this 'editing' or 'innovating'. To start with we choose one part of the story that we would like to change, usually a character.
For example, when looking at my The Three Little Pigs story map I might decide to 'edit' them to become tigers. I would change the name of my story and call it the The Three Little Tigers. The rest of the story will stay the same but I will use a Post It note or a piece of paper stuck on my story map to cover all the pig pictures and change them into tiger pictures! I can then retell my story using my 'innovated' story map.
Below is a video of The Gingerbread Man being 'innovated'. After it has finished I would like you to use bits of paper, or Post It notes if you have them, to change a character on your story map. It doesn't have to be The Gingerbread Man, it could be the old lady, one of the animals The Gingerbread Man meets or even the fox. Perhaps the fox could become a crocodile and eat The Gingerbread Man all up! This is your story and you can 'edit' it however you like!
Phonics: 'g' and Sound Blending 2
Today you will receive the link for the second Sound Blending video and the recap video for the sound 'g'. After you have watched the videos I'd like you to Fred Talk these words for your child. Can they repeat the sounds and blend them to make the word?
Maths: Length - Tall and Short
I really hope you have enjoyed the last couple of lessons about capacity. For the next couple of days we are going to investigate length - tall and short. Again, most of the activities will be practical, hands on maths. Here is a video for you to watch and then there is an activity for you to complete afterwards.

Mindfulness colouring / Cosmic Yoga / Take Five breathing
Today I thought I would provide you with some options of what you could do for our Wellbeing Wednesday. If your child loves the Cosmic Yoga then the link to their web page is below. If they would prefer to do some mindfulness colouring then perhaps they would like to choose from the sheets underneath this section. If they would like to do some of the Take Five breathing activities then the link is on the main F2 page, and below, and you will have received the password you need to access the different activities and videos. Perhaps your wellbeing activity might just be snuggling up on the sofa with a blanket and a book. This is your time to do what makes you happy...🌈💓🌈
