Literacy - The Three Little Pigs
This half term we will be looking at Traditional Tales in F2. We are going to start by looking at the story of The Three Little Pigs and we will look at this story over the next two weeks. At this point we aren't reading the story but exploring the characters that we will meet. Yesterday we received a very mysterious letter. It was from Mummy Pig explaining that her piglets had left home to build houses of their own. Here is a copy of the letter for you to read again with your child:
Today I would like you to draw a picture of the Big, Bad Wolf so that everybody can keep an eye out for him. What does he look like? Can you describe him to your grown up? You can draw your picture on a piece of paper or in your Home Learning/Home Fun book of you have it. Please upload the picture of your Big, Bad Wolf to Tapestry so I can keep a look out for him too!
Phonics - 'h'
Just like last time, every day you will be sent a text with a link to watch a phonics lesson about a specific sound. We are continuing to use the Read Write Inc phonics scheme and your child will be familiar with the way these lessons run as we do them every day in school. All F2 children are looking at the Set 1 Speed Sounds. We use a frog called Fred to help us learn these sounds. Each day I will upload an extra practise sheet that you can print at home for your child to practise writing the sound we've looked at. If you don't have a printer you can always do this writing in your Home Fun/Home Learning book. Under the video there is also a set of mini flashcards that you can print out to help your child speedily recall the sounds at home.
Maths - NumberBlocks Number 9
This week we will be finding out all about the number 9. Today I would like you to watch the NumberBlocks video below and then see if you can find the number 9 anywhere in your house. Can you try writing the number 9?
Creative / Physical / Topic - A house for the Three Little Pigs
We know that the three little pigs have left home to build houses of their own. Today, I would like you to build a new house for one of the piglets. You could build a house out of recycling materials like cereal boxes or out of Duplo or Lego, it's completely up to you. Don't forget to send me pictures of your houses, I think the three little pigs will love them!
