Literacy: The Gingerbread Man

Please watch the video of the story again today, encouraging your child to join in with the repeated parts such as 'run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man!' Talk about the video, can your child answer these questions:

- Why did the old lady want to bake a gingerbread man?

- Why do you think the Gingerbread Man ran away?

- Is the Gingerbread Man a good or bad character? Why?

- Which is your favourite part of the story?

After watching the video I'd like you to show your children the puppets below. Can they identify which characters are in our version of the story? Please cut out the old man, old lady, Gingerbread Man, horse, cow, chicken and fox. Can your child make the lollipop stick puppet say something appropriate to the story? Video your child using the lollipop stick puppets and send it to Tapestry, I can't wait to see them!

Phonics: 'th'

Today our phonics video is for the digraph 'th' - another two 'special friends'. After you have watched the video there is the practise sheet for you to have ago at writing the sound 'th. Afterwards, please can your child practise writing their name in their Home Learning book, using the formation rhymes for each letter, as shown below.

Maths: Representing Zero

Today I'd like you to watch the Numberblock video all about 0 and then ask your grown up if you can borrow their mobile phone!  Choose 5 friends or family members and ask if you can look at their phone number on the screen. Do any of them have 0 in them? Can you write their phone number and circle all the 0's? Whose number has the most 0's in?
