Literacy/Communication & Language – Tales Toolkit Story Discussion – Watch or the read the story ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. Then below are the Tales Toolkit symbols which stand for ‘Character and Setting’. With a grown up discuss the characters and setting from ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. Then can you draw a picture of the characters and the setting from the story.

Phonics – Fred Talk Games – Fred opens his fridge and what does he find?

All Fred Talk games need to follow these steps:

1. Say the word in sounds. Ask children to repeat.

2. Say the word in sounds and then the whole word. Ask children to repeat.

Today’s Fred Talk Game – Fred opens his fridge and what does he find? - Fred names the items he finds in the fridge and your child needs to identify item you’re sounding out. – The fridge items are j-a-m, m-i-l-k, b-u-tt-er, e-gg-s

1. Say ‘Fred has found some ‘j-a-m’.

2. Ask children to say ‘j-a-m’. Pause to see if they can blend and point to the item.

3. Say ‘j-a-m, jam’. Ask children to repeat.

Maths – Shape of the Week – Our new shape today is a ‘SQUARE’. With a grown up watch our shape song and join in if you can -

After the song with a grown up look at the shapes below and see if you can recognise ‘a SQUARE’. (If your child is unsure on the name of the shape you can name it for them). With an adult talk about a squares features such as ‘it has 4 sides’.

 

           

 

Go into your garden or on a walk near your house and collect some sticks, pebbles and leaves. See if you can make a square out of them? Can you can make any other 2D shapes? Which shapes are easiest to make using the sticks?
