Lovers’ Lane to provide bagel breakfast to children, families and staff with the National Schools Breakfast Project
We are delighted to share that Lovers’ Lane have been accepted as a National School’s Breakfast school! This means that we will receive a grant to set up a breakfast project for 4 school terms (a year and a term) to provide a free breakfast to our families (parents, carers and little brothers and sisters included) and to staff to encourage eating breakfast and a healthy start to the day, which will help ALL our children be ready to learn and also help our families too.
We we will be using the £500 grant to buy freezers, toasters and insulated boxes so we can toast and butter bagels before school and have them ready in insulated boxes to give to children, families and staff on the playground in the morning before school. We will also have a reading breakfast club where parents can come in with their child to eat and hear them read too.
We we will make sure all children and their family members are offered breakfast bagels so no one is missed out. We have a limit of 4 terms of free bagels delivered to school, which meet school food standards. This will run as well as our existing Breakfast club, which provides breakfast and childcare for parents who need it.
If if you can offer to toast and butter bagels from 8.00am, we will offer a free breakfast club place for your children (for parents at Lovers’ Lane), tea and coffee and the preparation will have its own base in the parent room. We welcome members of the community if you are able to volunteer.
We are very excited to be able to offer this brilliant opportunity and will share more news once we have a launch date.
