Reading Week and World Book Day are coming up!
The week beginning Monday 2nd March is Reading week.
There will be reading activities all week to help create a love of reading for the children and the children are invited to come in dress-up as a book character on Thursday 5th March, which is National World Book Day.
Other activities through the week will include:
Monday: Author visit from ‘Jonathan Emmett’ (website: https://www.scribblestreet.co.uk/), who will lead sessions with EYFS and KS1 and then with KS2 through the morning.
Tuesday: Class visits to Stray’s Bookshop in Newark Town for children to spend their ‘World Book Day Book Token’ on a new book.
Wednesday: Mystery books arriving in the classroom for a story stop in the morning and mystery teacher at the end of the day – a different teacher to the usual classteacher will come to your child’s class to read a story to them.
Thursday: World Book Day – Dress up as a book character. Photos of the day will be uploaded to the school website.
Friday: Book swap – please send in any books your child no longer wants/needs. They will be swapped for a book token, which your child will be able to ‘spend’ at the School Council ‘Book-swap’ at the end of the day. After school there will be a book sale for any children and parents who would like to come and buy a book for 50p. School Council will be leading this and organizing the event with support from staff.
Scholastic Book Fair coming soon…
Later on, from 18th March to 25th March we will be holding in ‘Scholastic Book Fair’ in the hall at hometime each day. This is a great event for the children to buy a new book and is also a good opportunity to buy presents for birthdays, Easter etc from the bookfair. There are books of various prices starting from £1.99.
