Reading Week and World Book Day 2022

Reading Week and World Book Day fun!

This week is Reading Week and World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March 2022! 📚

There will be reading activities all week to help create a love of reading for the children and the children are invited to come in dress-up on Thursday 3rd March, which is National World Book Day. This could be a favourite book character OR we are trying something new this year. Your child can come dressed as a word. Here are some example words: brave, sparkly, sleepy, artistic, vibrant, blustery, hilarious, spotty…..if it’s a word, it can be a dress up! The children can write their word on them or have it on paper.

Other activities through the week will include:

Monday:
Children will be trying to discover which teacher is reading which book with Lovers’ Lane’s very own ‘Masked Reader’!  ‘Who’s that, who’s that, who’s that behind the mask?’

Tuesday:
Children will be trying to discover which teacher is reading which book with Lovers’ Lane’s very own ‘Masked Reader’!  ‘Who’s that, whos’s that, whos’s that behind the mask?’

Wednesday:
Teacher Swap – teachers will be swapping classrooms to share extracts from their favourite books with different classes

Thursday:
World Book Day – Dress up as a book character. Photos of the day will be uploaded to the school website.

Friday:
Book swap – please send in any books your child no longer wants/needs. They will be swapped for a book token, which your child will be able to ‘spend’ at the School Council ‘Book-swap’ at the end of the day.
After school there will be a book sale for any children and parents who would like to come and buy a book for 50p. School Council will be leading this and organising the event with support from staff.

Many thanks for your continued support!
