Department of Education (DfE) guidance on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

DfE guidance on Coronavirus
(COVID-19)

We would like to reassure all parents and carers that the safety and welfare of your children remains of paramount importance to us.  The school continues to follow the most up-to-date guidance provided by the DfE in relation to Coronavirus, which can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19.

They have provided details of a helpline which is available to parents and carers who have questions or concerns:

Department for Education Coronavirus helpline

DfE have launched a new helpline to answer questions about COVID-19 related to education. Staff, parents and young people can contact the helpline as follows:

Phone: 0800 046 8687
Email: DfE.coronavirushelpline@education.gov.uk

Opening hours: 8am to 6pm (Monday to Friday)

  • No school should close in response to a suspected (or confirmed) COVID-19 case unless directed to do so by Public Health England.

At Lovers’ Lane ALL pupils have had teaching in hand washing using NHS video in assembly and further learning in classes. They are being reminded to use soap and hand gel, especially after playtimes, going to the toilet, before eating and if they sneeze or cough. There are no suspected cases in school.

Plans are in place should school be advised in the coming weeks by DfE and Public Health England that pupils could need to work remotely (at home) if schools are required to close as is being speculated in the press.

Our school have access to online learning programmes in Purple Mash and Busy things and are gathering information to ensure pupils without internet access at home would still have access to learning through learning packs. Please be reassured this has not yet been announced but school is making sensible preparations for all possible eventualities.

Should there be any closure guidance given to school by DfE, parents and staff will be contacted by text and radio via schools closure service and on this school website in the same way as we do on snowdays.

Take care and keep on ‘catching it, killing it and binning it if you have a cold and keep up the handwashing too.
