⭐Wake and Shake every morning on Tapestry to get you ready for your busy day learning at home!⭐

This week we are having a break from Traditional Tales to look at the celebration of Chinese New Year. This year it falls on Friday 12th February and if we were in school we would be doing lots of activities looking at how this special festival is celebrated in Britain and in other parts of the world.

This week also contains Safer Internet Day 2021 on Tuesday 9th February. We will be basing our Technology Tuesday activity around this event that is recognised in schools up and down the country.

Literacy: The story of Chinese New Year

Here is a video that tells you how and why Chinese New Year is celebrated. Please watch the video and talk about the 12 different animals and what happens in the story. Can you use the internet to find out what animal is being celebrated this year? Let me know on Tapestry.

Phonics: Sound Blending video 10 and recap of 'v'

I can't believe how quickly we are getting through these videos - I'm so impressed at how the children are learning to blend and to see you using Fred Talk at home with your children during their writing. Today I would like you to watch the videos and then practice name writing in your Home Learning book. Some children are now attempting to write their second name as well (which is amazing!!!) but writing their first name, with correctly formed letters, is still really, really important.

Maths: Time

This week we are going to look at time - the days of the week, seasons and how we can measure time. We are going to start by looking at the days of the week in the video below but before that I have done a warm up video for you to watch on Tapestry. The video you need is called F2 Maths 08.02.2021.

After you have watched that we are moving to the Oak Academy for our lesson and there is a task for you to complete afterwards.

Task: Have a look at the seasons wheel below. Can you choose one of the seasons and draw a picture of what might happen in that season. You could draw your house or your garden - what would it look like in either spring, summer, autumn or winter?

Chinese New Year song

Here is a sing for you to join in with to celebrate Chinese New Year. If you have a drum or cymbals at home you can even join in with the beat. If you don't, how about using a pan and a wooden spoon to play along? I hope you enjoy it.
