School Council

School Council

We have a School Council at our school, who are voted for by the children in elections. Having the elections and standing as a candidate for School Council help us understand democracy and is part of our understanding of British Values. We also think it is very important that the children have a voice in our school and can make things happen.

We meet on a Friday each week with Mr Cook.

School Council 2017

Last year our priority was fundraising to buy some reading books for our school. We raised £170 towards new books at a cake sale we held and also with help from our business link at UK WSL.

Next, we want to raise money to help improve the Foundation outdoor area and also to continue to support a student in Kadzinuni in Kenya to get an education. 🇰🇪

Our ideas so far include writing to local businesses and asking them to have a cake sale and donate, having events with help from Lovers' Lane PTA, such as discos, non-uniform days, sponsored events, family events (we could do bingo, beetledrive, quiz for example), bag packs and many more ideas. We are going to use our letter writing skills to ask for help from local businesses.

Friends of Kadzinuni

At Lovers' Lane, our School Council work hard to sponsor a child in Kadzinuni in Kenya so that they can have an education and go to school. We are raising money through a cake sale again soon. This is also part of our work toward our 'International School' Award.
